The Strand - Yangon
The Strand, once regarded as 'the finest hostelry east of Suez' has long been recognized as one of Yangon's landmarks.
Originally opened in 1901 on Strand Road, Rangoon, the Strand underwent a total renovation in the early 1990s before reopening in January 1994. The hotel's Victorian influence is visible from the colonnaded entranceway. Inside spells the same story with marble floors inlaid with teak, rattan furniture, potted palms, chandeliers and black-lacquered ceiling fans.
The Strand's 32 elegantly appointed and spacious suites are all located on the two upper floors and are attended 24 hours a day by a team of butlers.
The Strand Grill is Yangon's finest dining venue for Asian, Western and Mediterranean cuisine while the Strand Cafe with its large teak-framed windows looking out onto Strand Road creates an intimate dining atmosphere reminiscent of the hotel's historical charm.
