OVERVIEW:
Experience the real life of the Burmese people with a half day 'the local way' in Yangon. Visit the vibrant harbor, wander the streets of culturally-rich China Town and travel by local taxi and train to fresh markets and small villages. Interact with the friendly people and learn about the deep-rooted customs and traditions of Myanmar with a local guide.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
After breakfast, set off for a half day of 'living like a local' in Yangon, observing the lifestyle and culture of the Burmese people.
Begin with a transfer to Khaing Dan Jetty by traditional blue truck taxis, small vehicles used to transport people and goods around the city. Observe daily lifestyle of local people, colorful street vendors and the busy harborside scenes.
Then stroll along the road to a Chinese Buddhist Temple and China Town with vibrant street life and interesting culture abound. Jump in to a local taxi to Insein, a small town 10 miles a from Yangon. Shrouded in a rural and urban atmosphere, Insein is home to friendly people. Visit Insein Market where you can see colorful vendors and shopkeepers as the locals go about their daily shopping and you will stroll along the quiet streets to Insein Railway station to catch the circular train ride to Bogoyoke Market (former known as Scott Market, usually closed on Monday). The half-hour ride is a real taste of local life with the scenery and activities inside the train equally entertaining to the outside landscapes of small villages and traditional markets. Upon returning to Yangon, transfer to your hotel.

Visit three local galleries displaying paintings, sculptures, photographs and antiques from famous art pioneers and emerging young artists. Enjoy a cocktail at House of Memories restaurant, a historic building once used as a headquarters for the country’s independence movement and containing many remnants of this era including General Aung San’s typewriter.
