MYANMAR TOURS

Known as “The Golden Land”, Myanmar is a country rich in cultural heritage and natural scenic landscapes with abundant tourist attractions. History enthusiasts can bask in ancient cities and archaeological museums. Nature lovers can discover the lure of Myanmar forests, wildlife sanctuaries and scenic spots. Beach lovers can relax and enjoy the call of the sea at pristine beaches.

If you want to really discover Myanmar, the land formerly called Burma, you should set a side a couple of weeks to travel, meet the people and gain an understanding of this beautiful and fascinating country. Our shortest tours are half day excursions and while the longer you've got, the more you can see. At Exotissimo we pride ourselves on being able to fill everybody's travel plans with just the right mix.

Considered one of the most picturesque cities in the Orient, Yangon is a great starting point to any visit to Myanmar. Not only is it a transportation hub, but a visit to the city is a perfect introduction to the country, its people, and its history. Explore the markets, surrounding villages, and glamorous temples with our expert guides.

For a glimpse into the past, visitors should not miss Bagan (Pagan), one of the richest archaeological sites in Southeast Asia with over 2000 pagodas and temples. Travel from temple to temple to explore the architectural beauty and fascinating history of this former capital. Coast above the pagoda-filled plains by hot air balloon or meander your way through the paths in a local horse cart for a different perspective of Bagan. If you tire of temple-touring, there are plenty of other options in Bagan. The town not only features a colorful local market but it is also known for its fine handicrafts, such as lacquer ware, and visiting the workshops is a great way to learn about traditional craftsmanship. The town is also bordered by the mighty Irrawaddy River where boat cruises along this stretch of water offer great views and a glimpse of riverside life.

Located in the southern Shan State, Inle Lake is the second largest natural lake in Myanmar and is best known for its floating villages and gardens. Inthas (native lake dwellers) move about on the lake in their boats with a unique one-legged rowing technique. Visiting Inle Lake is an unforgettable experience and the highlight of some travelers’ visits to Myanmar. A full day trip is recommended during which time you can explore the local villages and temples and an evening spent on the lake is a relaxing way to absorb the lake’s beauty.

Mandalay is a bustling commercial center and home to ancient Myanmar culture. In addition to the fortress-like Royal Palace and spectacular temples, Mandalay features a variety of local workshops. A tour of these craft shops will show you the traditional techniques used to create some of the world’s best crafts, such as hand-woven silk and cotton, stone carving, tapestries, silverware, bronze casting and the making of gold-leaf. Nearby, there are several ancient capitals such as Amarapura, Sagaing, Ava, and Mingun which can be visited in a day trip inclusive of a cruise along the Irrawaddy River.

Outside of the main tourist destinations, Myanmar is filled with small towns and beautiful stretches of beaches. Let Exotissimo show you the white sands of Ngapali, the lush hills around Pindaya and Kalaw, or the edge of the Himalayan Mountains up in the far northern town of Putao. These destinations offer unique experiences beyond the tourist sights and into the heart of Myanmar.
