The Lost City of Mrauk U - 4 Days / 3 Nights

My favorite package is The Lost City of Mrauk U Myanmar tour. This tour made me feel like I was stepping into the past, with interesting monuments and relics nestled nicely amongst nature.

The boat trip along the Kaladan River was peaceful in itself and I thoroughly enjoyed mingling with the laid back locals in the village.

The highlight of this tour though was watching the sunset from Dukkhan Thein Paya hill, which hovered more than 30 feet above the ground. The view was awesome, the atmosphere was peaceful, and being in the presence of a monk capped off this memorable moment.

If you want to enjoy this tour to the fullest, you must first realize that this trip focuses on experiences in one of Myanmar's more remote areas, so modern facilities will be at a premium. However, if you love nature and would like to come across a simpler lifestyle than what you are normally used to, then this trip is surely for you. I would recommend sitting down at one of the teahouses in the area. You will really immerse yourself into the local way of life.

The next tour for me is the Bike & Trek The Shan Hills package. In this trip, I will get to explore the Myanmar countryside even more whilst getting some exercise in the process. Sounds like an exciting prospect and I can't wait for it!

For those seeking luxurious, yet charming accommodation in the heart of Yangon, look no further than The Savoy. With the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda in the background and colonial style buildings, a stay at The Savoy transfers you back to the days of Hemingway.

The Golden Rock - 2 Days / 1 Night - Thumbnail

The Golden Rock tour is a great way to extend your Myanmar tour and experience the scenery and life in the area. You will visit one of the important Buddhist pilgrimage site in Asia as you depart from Yangon and make your way to Kyaikhtiyo and the Golden Rock. At this site, a small pagoda stands on a large golden rock that appears to be falling off a cliff. Watch the people offer flowers and incense to this sacred site and listen to the monks’ chants.
